What is National Marriage Week?

It is a platform to encourage people
to celebrate, discuss and enhance their marriages.
It’s a week-long opportunity for couples to reflect on their marital relationship, sharing both joys and sorrows, hopes and fears, achievements and disappointments. It’s also a time for the wider community to reflect on their own role in supporting couples and creating a more helpful environment within which marriages can thrive.

I am delighted to offer my support to National Marriage Week. It is a time to celebrate the gift of marriage and for married couples to take a look at the health of their own marriages. It is an opportunity for us all to become aware of organisations that help support couples.”
Cardinal Cormac Murphy O'Connor

It is a pity that most pastoral and professional attention is directed towards marriages in crisis. If we are concerned exclusively with the care of the sick,
we may ignore the needs of the healthy
and that is the surest way to swell the ranks of the sick”

Cardinal Basil Hume
